About Maison d'Hiver ...

This luxurious chalet in the Mont Caly area of Les Gets has been stylishly renovated by the owners, who are proud to share their family home with guests of OVO Network.

Situated just 2.5 km from the village, Maison d'Hiver enjoys stunning views over the mountains, perhaps best enjoyed from the delightful hot tub. It's a five-minute drive to Les Gets, and the integral garage will mean your car is always warm and ready to go. If you prefer not to drive, there is a half-hourly ski bus service (the bus stop is a 10-minute walk away), as well as a night bus and a free "petit train' which you can hop on and off to get you around the village.

Beautifully decorated in a traditional cosy mountain style with contemporary and quirky touches, Maison d'Hiver is a perfect choice for two families or a large group of friends, wishing to make the most of mountain life in summer or winter.

The property ...

This cleverly-designed home with plenty of room for 12 people (max 11 adults) is set over three floors.

Steps (heated in winter) lead to the front door, which takes you straight in to the first floor. A heated cupboard in the lobby means your outdoor gear is will be warm and dry at the start of each day, and there's a toilet here too.

The majority of this floor is devoted to the stunning L-shaped open-plan living area. There's a cosy seating area around a woodburning stove, and a large dining table with plenty of seating for everyone to eat together. Doors open on to the terrace, which overlooks the Les Gets valley - the perfect place for an apero or perhaps coffee after your dinner.

The charming kitchen may look rustic and typically "Alpine", but you'll find all the equipment you could possibly need, including two ovens and two dishwashers - a real advantage when catering for a crowd. Stools at the breakfast bar and central island make it a sociable place to prepare a meal. There's another terrace at this side of the room, with a cosy seating area and a different view of the valley.

A great TV and games room with games console completes the first floor - younger guests will enjoy having their own space close enough to the kitchen to nip out for snacks and drinks!

Three of the five bedrooms can be found on the lower floor - two doubles and a room which can be arranged with twin beds or as a double. All of these rooms have en suite shower rooms, and one of them opens on to a terrace where you'll find the hot tub - the ideal place for a little stargazing before a good night's sleep.

The spacious lower lobby on this floor has table football and a wall of heated ski boot lockers.

The remaining bedrooms are on the top floor. The stunning master suite has a sumptous bathroom with a free-standing bath and a separate shower, there's another double room with an en suite shower room and finally the bunk den, which younger guests will appreciate.

About the area ...

Les Gets and the neighbouring resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz are in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, which has 12 resorts spanning the French/Swiss border. In fact, you can ski in to Switzerland, but be warned, only the most accomplished skiers should tackle the Swiss Wall - a huge mogul field which is classified as an orange route - too hazardous for a black! But with 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.

From Maison d'Hiver it's just a five-minute drive to the ski lifts at Les Gets, which will whisk you in to the heart of the Avoriaz ski area. There's also half-hourly ski bus which stops a 10-minute walk from the chalet. It's an uphill walk back at the end of the day, but the owners of Maison d'Hiver have arranged with a ski hire business that you can leave your skis and boots there, to save you carrying them back to the chalet. They have also arranged a discount, should you prefer to hire your equipment.

If you're not a skier, the nearby resort of Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema shows films in English.

The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area's frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner - on a sleigh ride. Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages.

As spring comes to the Portes du Soleil, a whole new range of activities opens up to visitors. Lush green slopes and wild flowers replace the pistes, and the mountains become a haven for hikers, bikers and thrill-seekers. The lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, leaving you to come back down at your leisure. Take a picnic, and make a day of it!

For a change of scene, visit the nearby resorts of Morzine/Avoriaz or the village of Montriond and its lake, which is perfect for a gentle stroll and a picnic, or perhaps a bit of kayaking.

Les Gets and Morzine have earned Famille Plus status for their excellent childcare and entertainment, so this area is the perfect choice for young families.

There are superb water parks in the town and in neighbouring Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledging runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages. Golfers will find excellent courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz.

Other activities in the area include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing and kayaking. If all this sounds like hard work, you could always just relax in the hot tub on the terrace at Maison d'Hiver!

The OVO Network Review

“... great extra facilities to ensure that everyone is kept busy, happy, occupied and relaxed.”

Maison d'Hiver is a 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom chalet for 12 (max 11 adults) spread over 3 floors and 240 m2 of floor space.

The chalet would ideally suit discerning guests who enjoy sumptuous surroundings, a well-equipped holiday rental, and some great extra facilities, to ensure that everyone is kept busy, happy, occupied and relaxed. Maison d'Hiver is 2.5 km away from the centre of Les Gets, so best for those who are happiest when away from the crowds, but close enought to the centre of things for convenience. Anyone interested in interior design will find plenty of ideas to inspire them; the owners have taken care and spent time on every detail, and obviously enjoyed putting the chalet together. The result is a chalet which is quite unique, and fun!

If you need space to work or relax, guests can take time out in their very comfortable bedrooms, the cinema/games room, the games area, in the jacuzzi - with disco glitter ball (we kid you not), and then all come together in the main living areas for meals, apres ski etc.  Kids will love the bunk room behind the curtain, and the "secret" play area. Hide and seek in this chalet must be such good fun! With en suite bathrooms for 5 of the bedrooms, kids can share their parents bathroom, there is an independent WC on the main floor. The chalet is spread over three floors, so guests with bedrooms on the top floor will have three flights of stairs to contend with.

At an elevation of 1280 m, the views are really special, and there are several terraces to enjoy them from. A new terrace for outdoor dining is being built ready for summer 2018.

Les Gets is a fabulous family resort, with a really proactive Tourist Office who orgnise some great events all year round. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, family-friendly cafes, shops and boutiques, plus of course direct access to some great skiing, and plenty of parking if you prefer taking the car to the ski bus in the winter. Guests can walk from the door all year round, and cycling locally is a mountain biker's or road cyclist's dream. If you fancy a change of scene, Morzine is only a short car ride away.

We are thrilled to be launching a new destination for our guests with such a beautiful property, and hope you will enjoy it too. The cherry on the cake - the manager is happy to organise lots of extra (paid) services for those guests who are on the look out for a pampered holiday experience. Go on, treat yourselves!

Quite Simply My Favourite Place In The Alps !

"My family and I love staying at Maison D’Hiver. It is a beautifully furnished and absolutely stunning chalet. There is loads of room for everyone to have their own space whilst retaining a warmth and charm that makes it feel cosy and warm. The views from the balcony and hot tub are outstanding, and you can just catch the tip of Mont Blanc on a clear day. If you are bored of that there is always the table football to distract you!

Its location in Les Gets gives great access to the local slopes, and it is in a quieter area of the village so you benefit from the tranquillity of the mountains whilst being a short walk/drive from the bars and shops. The Les Gets ski area is great for all abilities, and it is easy to access Morzine and the wider Portes du Soleil. Better still, there are some wonderful smaller ski areas just a short drive away that are definitely worth exploring.

All in all you will not fail to be relaxed, rested and happy in high quality surroundings. Quite simply my favourite place in the Alps!"

Guest Reviews

“Wonderfully comfortable, well-designed ski chalet”

We had a wonderfully relaxing and luxurious week.
The house is very comfortable with great beds, linen and bathrooms. The design and flow of the house is very thought-through with spaces to be together, but also for kids to have fun: movie room, jacuzzi and fussball/football table etc.
Lots of charm in spite of having all the mod cons.
The views are beautiful. Everything is run very professionally and smoothly. We would go back in a flash. We loved it.
